Head of Investor Relations
Are you passionate about making more investors discover that positive impact for the world and financial return can go hand in hand? Have you built great fundraising capabilities that you would like to put to use for founders solving the world’s greatest challenges? Here’s your chance!
About Norrsken Foundation
Norrsken is an impact ecosystem where entrepreneurs can find everything they need to make saving the world their business. Norrsken Foundation has incubated five investment fund teams with seven funds, including Norrsken VC II - Europe’s largest early-stage impact VC fund, and Norrsken22 I, a $200m growth fund backing exceptional entrepreneurs building Africa’s new tech unicorns. Together, they to date have an AUM of $750m+ and backed 160+ companies - and this is just the start. Norrsken Foundation is an investor and minority owner of the management company of each fund.
We imagine you’ve done investor relations before, and there will be a ton of that experience that will be valuable here as well. But a heads-up: yep, the role as Head of Investor Relations at Norrsken is a bit different.
Norrsken is not a fund house. We typically don’t launch funds because LPs have said they want them, but because we’ve identified an underfunded space, with potential to create a positive impact. We’re not a centralized structure, but a decentralized one, where most investor relations are managed by the respective fund team, supported by Norrsken Foundation. Our goal is not to compete with other impact funds nor to optimize our own AUM. Our goal is to grow the pie of impact investments and make every euro in the world invested for the benefit of people and the planet.
That’s where you come in.
About the role
As Head of Investor Relations at Norrsken Foundation, you will spearhead the work the Foundation does to complement each fund GP team. You will report directly to Norrsken Foundation’s co-CEO Sara Kappelmark and work closely with Norrsken Foundation’s founder and chairman Niklas Adalberth.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Engage new investors to Norrsken funds: Identify and build relationships with new investors who have not yet discovered Norrsken (Institutions, Family offices, Fund of Funds, HNWIs etc.). Understand their needs and investment frameworks and introduce relevant Norrsken Fund GPs. Identify the best placement agents in relevant new markets and work together with them.
• Engage with key Norrsken LPs: Most LP relationships management, including reporting, is done by each respective fund team. But there is a group of highly valued pioneering LPs who have backed Norrsken funds from the start and who are engaged with several of them. You’ll lead the work to ensure their experience when interacting with the Norrsken ecosystem is smooth and rewarding.
• Initiate and manage development of platform tools and structural solves: Tools that ensure the LP interactions are professional and smooth, e.g. shared CRM-system and fundraising calendar. Structural solves to unlock additional capital that each individual fund can not access on their own.
• Spearhead initiatives to grow the whole impact investment sector: You’ll not just work for the Norrsken funds - if we can make other impact investors successful as well, we love that! You will lead the thinking of initiatives that can drive the whole sector forward. A concrete example is Norrsken’s annual Impact/Return event, where we invite all Impact GPs we know together with LPs to meet and discuss topics that drive the impact investment space forward. You will work closely with the organizing team as the expert on where the LP community is, and hence how we curate the agenda and experience to move the impact discussions forward. Another concrete example is to ensure we blue-print and open source as many of our learnings as possible to the wider impact investment community.
To thrive and succeed in the role, we believe you
• Have 7+ years experience in investor relations for a fund, at a placement agent, or from working at an LP in venture capital or private equity
• Are an outgoing people person, with strong interpersonal skills and who loves building new and long lasting relationships.
• Have a proven track record of successful fundraising and LP relationship management, and an established strong network within the LP community.
• Have a strong understanding of financial markets and venture capital operations.
• Are a result oriented doer who doesn't mind rolling up your sleeves to get good sh*t done.
• Are a curious and quick learner, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Are a purpose driven leader with a genuine passion for making things better in the world.
The role will require frequent travelling, including to LPs and to Norrsken Foundation’s HQ in Stockholm. We are flexible to where you are based.
What we offer you at Norrsken
So we’re up front, as we know this is not standard in investor relations: You will have a fixed salary like everyone in the Norrsken Foundation team. We believe in collaborating for collective impact. We want your focus to be on all our funds and the sector at large, not just the biggest Norrsken funds. You will have the opportunity to invest in Norrsken funds, 35 days paid vacation and pension plan.
But the greatest benefit of working at Norrsken is that you will be proud of the work you do here and that you’ll work alongside a team of sharp, passionate and driven people set on putting a positive dent in the universe.
