Norrsken is looking for an Expansion Project Leader; an outstanding team member to help drive Norrsken’s internationalization and enable impact entrepreneurship on a global scale. You will be starting in Stockholm but quickly relocate to Rwanda to set up East-Africa’s biggest hub for entrepreneurship. 

Norrsken's international journey is starting with Rwanda followed by a European city. As the Expansion Project Leader, your job is to run key processes enabling the set up of world-class entrepreneurial ecosystems in these markets. This entails driving the development of Norrsken House, making sure the place is buzzing and launching it in the market.

East Africa is rocking the entrepreneurial scene and we want to accelerate that trend by establishing the biggest hub for entrepreneurship, in Rwanda. The project starts with the development of a fantastic hub and doesn’t end until it has launched with the right partners and members. While you will start out in Stockholm, you will soon relocate to Rwanda and after successful completion you will be given the opportunity to go to the next market. You will often find yourself in new contexts, so it’s critical that you are an eager learner and thrive in challenging environments. You will be the face of Norrsken in Rwanda and work closely with the Expansion and Partnerships team to ensure a strong market presence. 

This is one of our biggest and most important projects so far and your work will be critical to make it happen. 

Norrsken is a foundation, but working here is more like working at a startup than a charity. It will be demanding, it may be long hours, fast tempo and stretching over multiple geographies and stakeholders. But it will also give you the opportunity of a lifetime to work on ideas and solutions that truly drive positive impact in society.

Among other things, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead the set-up and development of the real estate in Kigali
  • Coordinate with suppliers and actors to make sure the project remains on track according to budget and timeline
  • Coordinate with functions at Norrsken HQ and make sure that their activities are expanded to the new market
  • Make sure that the Norrsken House ecosystem is tailored to the needs of the local entrepreneurs 
  • Identify suitable partners, negotiate contracts and follow-up on deliverables in collaboration with HQ and the Rwanda country manager
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key players and business partners
  • Be the face of Norrsken and participate in networking events and speaking opportunities
  • Own the expansion playbook and make sure it reflects best practice for establishing Norrsken in a new market

Keep in mind that Norrsken is a startup at heart. We don’t know where this journey will take us. Things change fast, new opportunities come out of the blue, and as a result, your responsibilities will change over time as well.

We actively seek to recruit talented people from all backgrounds. You are a good fit if you:

  • Are passionate about making the world a better place, and believe entrepreneurship, technology and business can be a driving force for this
  • Have a relevant university degree and 2-4 years of work experience within business development, growth and/or expansion. Previous experience of working with real estate is a plus 
  • Have project leading skills with strong ability to prioritize, multi-task and perform effectively under pressure
  • Have a can-do attitude and like to solve problems independently 
  • Know how to drive commitment and lead partners to deliver top-quality work
  • Are excited about relocating to Kigali for a minimum of 6 months
  • Are curious about people and culture. International experience is a merit
  • Take pride in resourcefulness - if you don't know how to do something, you figure it out or you know who to ask

It is not a must, but we appreciate if you have experience from fast-growing tech companies, big consultancies, banking or other industries with high demands on speed and quality. 

Salary: 35,000 SEK / month. Accommodation during relocation. 7 weeks of vacation. Solid pension program.

Starting time: As soon as possible. We will evaluate the applications on an ongoing basis and end the process as soon as we find the right candidate.
