Norrsken Foundation helps entrepreneurs solve the world’s biggest challenges. We believe that entrepreneurs building rapidly scalable businesses are the best bet to solve some of the problems facing our world. That is why we are using our experience in Sweden from founding and leading startups (like www.klarna.com) to support the best entrepreneurs across the world in creating change.

We began our journey by creating Europe’s largest hub for entrepreneurship, technology and impact in Stockholm, currently housing 120 companies (norrskenhouse.org), and an investment fund that has so far finalised 17 investments (www.norrskenfoundation.org).

This was just the beginning. We have now decided to scale our operations. Kigali will be the next city where we build a similar ecosystem, followed by a European city. In Kigali, we aim to build the largest ecosystem for entrepreneurship in Eastern Africa and cover the whole region. We will support the local and regional businesses and entrepreneurs with capital, knowledge, network and access to international markets. We will work with a constellation of partner organisations to deliver business advice, trainings, and acceleration support.

As Norrsken’s Country Manager Rwanda, you will lead our team and operations. The position is based in Kigali and has an East African focus. Norrsken House Kigali will be located in the former campus “Ecole Belge” iconic building, providing an inspiring workplace to more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, investors and other ecosystem actors. As the face of Norrsken in Kigali, your goal will be to make this the centre of entrepreneurship and technology that breaks through the noise. You will be central in creating the next generation of role models by giving Rwandan and East African entrepreneurs the tools they need to succeed.

Among other things, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Make Norrsken House Kigali East Africa’s centre for entrepreneurship and technology
  • Represent Norrsken, communicate our vision and brand internally and externally
  • Recruit, build and lead the Rwanda team
  • Curate the right mix of members to create an enabling ecosystem
  • Ensure a world class member experience, facilities, and a self-sustaining community
  • Establish Norrsken House as a regional East African, rather than local, innovation hub
  • Ensure the delivery of top-class presentations, events and workshops for Norrsken House members, and entrepreneurs and small businesses at large
  • Build great partnerships and collaborations to give members the best-equipped space and excellent deals with external suppliers
  • P/L responsibility for the Rwanda operations

Keep in mind that Norrsken is a startup at heart. We don’t know where this journey will take us. Things change fast, new opportunities come out of the blue, and as a result, your responsibilities will change over time as well.

We actively seek to recruit talented people from all backgrounds. You are a good fit if you:

  • are passionate about technology, business and entrepreneurship.
  • have experience from running or setting up your own company, and/or have a strong understanding of how a business operates due to your +10 years experience in operations, consulting, strategy, or a similar area.
  • are able to be resourceful, act independently and think critically, and have an ability to work in dynamic and flat organisations with little daily guidance.
  • understand what it means to work in a small and output-focused startup team with tight deadlines and high demands for internal communication and innovation.
  • have excellent communication skills, and love being on stage.
  • have a wide network of connections throughout Rwanda and East Africa, and also international exposure.
  • can make things happen.

Location: The job is based in Kigali Rwanda and involves traveling.

Starting time: As soon as possible. We will evaluate the applications on an ongoing basis and end the process as soon as we find the right candidate.

Or, know someone who would be a perfect fit? Let them know!
